Course learning outcomes

Key concepts in the theory and practice of peace, justice, violence, and nonviolence at the personal, interpersonal, community, national, and international levels.
Develop your own concepts of peace, justice, and balance.
Communicate for collaboration.
The natural world as a teacher of unity and mutualism.
Apply to one’s own life lessons from the natural environment on the making and keeping of peace.
Understand nature's economy and how we can learn from the natural world (biomimicry).
Identify local, national, and international organisations which work for peace.
Evaluating sources of technical reports, Internet articles and YouTube presentations, and applying critical thinking criteria to determine relevance and reliability.
Cultivate self-awareness/ stress management and nonviolent communication.

Students will

  • Understand the science of climate change
  • Understand the current and potential future impact of climate change locally and globally
  • Partner with a school in Ethiopia/Mexico
  • Understand power structures
  • Understand design thinking skills
  • Apply innovation skills to ideate and design prototype solutions local and globally
  • Present their solutions digitally and a tan award ceremony
